GSK Carbon Neutral Laboratory for Sustainable Chemistry
The University of Nottingham’s Jubilee Campus is the location of the UK’s first carbon neutral laboratory. The architects, Fairhursts Design Group have created a visually stunning building whose broad sweeping voltaic roof to the south harnesses the sun, the north faces are grassed, whilst the four horns control ventilation in the cathedral like laboratory spaces. As dramatic internally, the entirely timber structure exudes warmth, combined with elegance; adjectives that have rarely travelled with clinical laboratories of the past!
